Event

For those of you in San Francisco, it would be great to see you of course. The opening on Thursday went extremely well to the point it was difficult to even see the artwork at times. The reaction to the work has been pretty good as well (with one or two vocal exceptions) If I missed seeing any of you I apologize. Below is the invitation to the gallery talk this Tuesday. I know I am emailing more than usual of late. Unless anything major happens with the dispute between myself and the printer, I will save reviews and coverage etc. until next month. Also, the important and admirable anti-war organization, Not In Our Name, attended the opening and issued a Press Release condemning the printing company and standing firmly behind me, which I really appreciate enormously. We are exploring holding a well-deserved fundraiser at the gallery for them, and I will alert you should that happen as well.

In the meanwhile, I send my deepest condolences to my friends in Australia for the re-election of the atrocious, war-mongering, Bush-ass-kissing John Howard. Where's Pauline Hanson when you need her?

GALLERY TALK: NUMB & NUMBER
October 12, 2004, 6.30 - 8.00pm

The Numb & Number exhibition at Toomey Tourell Gallery deals with current events and the horrors and anguish of war as depicted in the graphic, editorialized images of Clinton Fein.

Join Clinton Fein, Stephen Tourell and Nancy Toomey in an interactive forum produced by Program Director Hanna Regev, relating to the content of the exhibition. Discussion will include the issues and motivation behind offering an already controversial exhibition in politically explosive times.

Attention will also be given to the extraordinary actions of Palo Alto-based printing service, Zazzle, which refused to release two of the images before the opening, citing "unacceptable" content standards. (See the above-referenced image.)
